Central Coast Intelligent Transportation System

ITS technologies are generally considered to be the incorporation of advanced technology into all parts of the transportation system to improve the movement of people, goods, services and information. They can include more immediately recognizable features such as emergency call boxes, changeable message signs, signal synchronization and preemption, and Highway Advisory Radio, to more advanced technologies such as Traffic Operations Centers, Automatic Vehicle Location devices, information kiosks, and electronic payment services for tolls.

The project continues ITS collaboration among the multiple partners working to better unify their ITS planning, programming and project development processes. At the culmination of this effort in 2006, regional ITS inventories, architectures, maintenance plans, promotional materials/website, and user agreement templates will be in place better laying the foundation and framework for continued ITS deployment success on California's Central Coast.
