2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan & the Sustainable Communities Strategy

Contact

For more information about this plan, contact Heather by email or phone: (831) 264-5086

Overview

The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Monterey Bay region. As the MPO, AMBAG is required to prepare certain documents, such as the Metropolitan Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (MTP/SCS), to ensure the region is eligible for transportation funding.

Connect Monterey Bay 2050, the latest MTP/SCS, is the long range transportation plan for the Monterey Bay region. Updated every four years, the MTP/SCS identifies regional transportation needs, investment priorities to meet those needs, and local, regional, state and federal transportation funding the Monterey Bay region expects to receive for these investments.

Public Workshops

In April 2025, AMBAG will be hosting five (5) public meetings on the development of the MTP/SCS. We want to hear your thoughts on our transportation needs (roadways, public transit, bicycle, pedestrian, freight, etc.) over the next 25 years.

Meeting Schedule

Registration for the virtual workshops are required.

2050 MTP/SCS Survey

Additionally, a survey (English and Spanish) has also been released for your input on transportation, land use, housing, and greenhouse gas reduction strategies to be included in the MTP/SCS. We need your help to inform the development of the long range vision for transportation in the region.

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and is open through April 17, 2025. A link to the surveys are below:

If you have any issues with accessibility, please contact us at info@ambag.org.
