AMBAG has recognized the importance of multimodal streets to improve accessibility, safety, and equity for all users of the transportation system. In August 2013, AMBAG adopted its Monterey Bay Area Complete Streets Guidebook, providing resources and procedures for developing an interconnected, safe, and accessible active transportation network in the Monterey Bay region to meet the needs of all travel modes, ages, and abilities. Additionally, AMBAG recognizes their partner agencies and local jurisdictions have prioritized creating a safe, accessible, efficient, and coordinated transportation network that accommodates all roadway users within their communities.
AMBAG’s Complete Streets Policy will build upon these previous efforts by promoting a transportation system that is designed to be multimodal to safely and comfortably accommodate users of all ages and abilities. The Board of Directors adopted the Final Complete Streets Policy on May 8, 2024.
