  • FY 2018-19
  • Employee Compensation Pursuant to AB 2040

AB 2040 provides that local agencies that maintain websites must post the annual compensation of their elected officials, officers, and employees on their websites in a conspicuous location or provide a link to the Government Compensation in California website also in a conspicuous location.

The required content and reporting time frame in statute through AB 2040 remain the same as those required in the State Controller’s administrative order:

    • Special districts must provide information on compensation within 90 days after the close of the district’s fiscal year when submitting reports by paper or 110 days after close of the fiscal year when submitting reports in electronic format. (Gov’t Code section 53891.)
    • Healthcare district reports must be submitted within 120 days following the close of the fiscal year.

Special districts should review and revise their policies to ensure compliance with these provisions. AB 2040 goes into effect on January 1, 2015.
