The January 2003 issue of the Central Coast Reporter marked the Five-Year Anniversary of this newsletter.

In 1998, the publication began as a cooperative effort between the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments and the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District focused upon regional transportation and air quality issues. Over the years, six other public agencies have joined efforts to produce a publication that gives regional awareness to topics that include, but are not limited to, air quality, transportation, and planning issues.
